What Types of Projectors?
A DLP projector works by shining a light through a micro mirror and an LCD screen onto the walls of the room. This “shines” the desired image onto to the walls for everyone in that room to see (as long as there are no windows in their way).

This article will cover some general knowledge about DLP projectors. First, it will go into what types of projectors exist, including those that use other technologies such as LEDs or lasers. Second, it will break down how a projector at work works in general and what we know about its uses today.

Third, it will discuss light sources and how they determine which type of technology is used. Last, it will cover some of the problems and issues that plague modern projectors, as well as how they can be fixed. There are many different types of technologies used to project images onto walls.

The major difference between these technologies is the light source. Most projectors use incandescent bulbs (such as a tungsten light bulb) to shine onto their desired image, but there are other-more efficient technologies available. These include: liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) , lasers, organic LEDs (OLEDs), and digital light processing (DLP). Let’s go over what distinguishes these from each other and how they work.Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS)

An LCOS project can work in a few different ways. Sometimes an LCD screen is used to shine light onto the image (this is usually done with a backlight). Other times a liquid crystal is used to change the light from one color to another without changing its intensity, which allows for different colors to be shown.

In either instance, this method can project images in higher resolutions and with less dimming compared to other technologies. However, when compared to DLP technology, it takes more power and does not have as bright of a light source as DLP; therefore it requires larger screens and more power.

Also, LCD screens are more fragile than DLP mirrors and LEDs. For example, LCD screens can be shattered by physical pressure or small objects. They are also more expensive to produce and maintain.DLP (Digital Light Processing)DLP technology is a projector that has micro mirrors that reflect light from the bulb onto an image on a screen.

This mirrors must change to control the image on the screen, so this technology cannot use incandescent light bulbs. However, it uses less power compared to other technologies. Also, DLPs are brighter than LCDs and can see pretty much any surface (this is great for large areas).Digital Light Processing

DLP also has 3D capabilities, allowing it to project onto multiple images (like a 3D movie) . The main differences between DLP and LCDs are that DLP requires less power than LCDs and is brighter.

Other differences include durability and how long the bulb lasts. DLP bulbs can last around 10,000 hours, which is twice as long as incandescent bulbs. Another feature of DLP is that images can go behind other objects such as a wall or door. This allows for movies to be viewed in a room or inside of buildings (such as buildings with green screens).
